By John Galliano is back in the world of fashion. He is going to work with Zara on a new creative project for two years. He will rework and update Zara’s old collections for this initiative.
Galliano said that he has been looking at Zara’s past designs and wants to make them look new and fresh. He remarked that the idea isn’t just to replicate them, but to “re-create” them in his own way.
He and Marta Ortega Perez, the head of Inditex, got together to form this cooperation. They met through her organization, which puts on fashion and photography shows. They became friends over time and chose to work together.
Zara has worked with well-known designers like Narciso Rodriguez and Stefano Pilati in the past. Kate Moss also worked with them to make collections. But this project with Galliano is different since it will take two years to finish.
Galliano stated he is happy because this is a fresh experience for him. He likes the process and thinks it’s entertaining and creative. He also claimed that this kind of job feels more important and long-lasting to him.
Galliano has worked for Maison Margiela for several years before this. He was also well-known for being the creative director of Christian Dior from 1997 to 2011.
He hasn’t been in fashion for the past two years. He went to museums, walked in nature, and thought about what he wanted to do with his life. He said this helped him calm down and get back in touch with his creative side.
He has been discreetly working at a studio in Paris since January. He is now making new designs that are all about shape and form. He said that his new work won’t follow the boundaries of traditional fashion and might be for people of all genders and seasons.
This partnership’s debut collection will be in shops this September. Galliano said he is happy that more people would be able to wear his clothes because of Zara.
He also said that this new phase of his life feels crucial and maybe the most entertaining thus far.
