The Princess of Wales Shows Why Olive Green Remains a Standout Fashion Choice

As a fashion content writer, I always find it interesting when a royal appearance underlines how a single color or silhouette can stay stylish across different occasions. The Princess of Wales showed us recently in a different way, wearing a chic olive green midi dress, that classic pieces can still feel relevant in modern fashion.

For the occasion, Catherine chose a refined dress, accessorized with a sleek and understated style. The long sleeves and fit-and-flare shape made the outfit feel refined, and the olive-green color provided a hint of color without being too bold in its overall style.

What struck me most was that this was not the first time the Princess had worn the dress. The same Emilia Wickstead design was previously selected by her when she appeared at Windsor Castle. Re-wearing a tried and tested favorite demonstrates how timeless tailoring can still be useful in a well thought-out wardrobe.

Olive green is another color choice that has been quite noticeable in the Princess’s recent fashion appearances. Green is a versatile color that can range from more muted olive shades to richer forest and emerald shades, so it’s a great choice if you’re going for a sophisticated look. Its versatility makes it suitable for a number of occasions such as day time but more formal events.

Catherine also wore another green Emilia Wickstead dress at Wimbledon recently, this time in a lighter olive shade with distinctive asymmetric sleeves, showing this method. For more formal occasions she has also turned to emerald green, including a dress by designer Andrew Gn.

As a writer on fashion content, I think the Princess of Wales’ approach to green is a good reminder that wearing one color over and over again doesn’t have to look repetitive. Different shades, silhouettes and details can totally change the mood of an outfit, but you can still keep your wardrobe cohesive.

A well-cut green midi dress is a good start if you want to incorporate this trend into your own wardrobe. It can be dressed up with simple accessories for daytime events or dressed up with heels and statement jewelry for more formal events.
